$25,000 prize for anti-poaching ideas


If Palau tests drones to combat illegal fishing, a wildlife conservation organization will award ideas that help fighting illegal poaching, as Popular Science reports.


‘Kashmir Robotics is an organization set up to counter poachers with drones. Together with the Reserve Protection Agency, a wildlife protection non-profit, the South African National Parks, as well as drone companies like Global Unmanned Systems and Design Intelligence, Kashmir Robotics is hosting a contest todesign a drone system (so, flying machine plus software) to patrol South Africa’s Kruger National Park on the Mozambique border.’The Wildlife Conservation UAV Challenge will foster innovation and invention in the design, fabrication, and utilization of unmanned aircraft to assist with counter poaching and illicit wildlife trafficking.  It calls on students, hobbyists, academics, and corporations to cooperate in a build & fly challenge that emphasizes the integration of sensors, embedded systems, and communications in a robust and high endurance…
